The case for luxury vinyl plank
Choose your plank and performance
Rigid core, SPC
A dense stone based core that resists dents and feels solid underfoot.
Wear layer
A thicker wear layer, measured in mils, means better scratch and scuff resistance for busy homes.
Plank format
Wide planks for a modern look, or narrower boards for a traditional feel.
Finish and texture
Embossed textures that follow the grain make it look and feel more like real wood.
What to know before choosing LVP
Where LVP works best
Everywhere, and especially kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, and busy family spaces where water and wear are a concern.
What to consider
It is not real wood, so it does not add resale value the way hardwood does. A very heavy or sharp impact can dent or gouge it, and it cannot be refinished, it is replaced when worn.

Common questions
Is LVP really waterproof?
Yes. Quality luxury vinyl plank is fully waterproof, which is why it works in bathrooms and basements.
Does LVP look cheap?
Not anymore. Modern LVP with embossed texture and realistic printing is hard to distinguish from real wood at a glance.
Is it good with pets and kids?
Yes. It is one of the most scratch and moisture resistant options, which makes it ideal for busy homes.
Can LVP be refinished?
No. When it eventually wears, it is replaced rather than refinished, but it lasts a long time first.
Does LVP add home value?
It adds appeal and function, but it does not carry the resale premium that solid hardwood does.
